What kind of training does the Digital Film Institute offer?
We are focused on providing the best available training on popular digital video applications. These include the current versions of: Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Boris software (FX, RED, and Graffiti), Premiere Pro, and Adobe Encore. Classes range from beginner to advanced levels.

Why should I choose the Digital Film Institute for training?
There are several good reasons.

  • We take the time to emphasize a solid understanding of the applications rather than speeding through lots of exercises.
  • Our small classes ensure that students get the one-on-one attention they need to learn well and enjoy the experience.
  • Each of our vendor-certified expert instructors has years of both professional and teaching experience. We know what to teach as well as how, and we love sharing our knowledge and experience.
  • Our instructors receive excellent ratings from our students. Most of our business comes from student referrals and word-of-mouth.
  • The Digital Film Institute specializes in digital media only. We want to be the best at a few things, not adequate at many. We don't lose our focus by teaching office, print, or general computer applications.

What type of systems do you train on?
We use state-of-the-art hardware and the current versions of the software.

What courseware do you teach with?
In most cases we use vendor-certified texts, but we also develop materials and are constantly evaluating new publications. Students will always leave the class with useful materials to continue their learning experiences.

Do students share computers?
No. We allow only one student per computer in our regular classes. The best learning is achieved by doing, not just watching.

Can I bring my own computer?
Yes, but you will have full responsibility for it and you need to have a legal copy of the current version of the application already installed on it. We will not install the application, but we can install the training materials you will use.

Can you provide training at my facility?
Yes, but we don't recommend it. The workplace can be distracting and the training is frequently not as effective as in our classroom where students can focus on learning. However, since onsite training can be very cost-effective for groups of 4 or more students, we would be glad to discuss your particular needs. Please call us if you have any questions.

I'm not sure which class is right for me. Can you make any suggestions?
Sure, we suggest starting with the basics then move on to the more advanced classes when you have gotten enough experience. Unless you have at least six months of daily hands-on experience, you should stick with a 101 class. If you have some experience it will be an excellent refresher, and you will probably pick up a lot of tricks that you won't learn on your own. Please call us with any questions -- we want to make sure you make the best choice.

How do I register for classes?
Go to the registration page, or you can call us at 678.303.1199 or 877.543.3456 (toll free) to register.

How can I pay for my classes?
The Digital Film Institute accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Checks, Money Orders, and Purchase Orders (with prior approval). We do not provide financing.

Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are offered to returning students and those registering for multiple classes. Please call for more information.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?
If you must cancel a class please let us know as soon as possible. If you notify us at least two weeks before the scheduled start date you will receive a full refund of your paid class tuition. Less than two weeks, no refunds will be given but students will be able to reschedule into a future class.

Every effort is made to hold classes based on our published schedule, but in the rare event that it becomes necessary, the Digital Film Institute reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. In the event we must cancel or reschedule a class, our liability is limited to the registration fees already paid to us for that class only.

Can I retake a class?
Absolutely! We welcome students who want to come back and take a free refresher in the same class they took. We cannot guarantee access to a computer, but you are always welcome to sit in. We only ask is that you contact us first. If the class has changed (new curriculum or software) there may be an additional fee. Contact us to make arrangements.

Will I be “Certified ” after completing training at the Digital Film Institute?
We provide certificates of completion at the successful conclusion of each class. Additional vendor certification can be arranged on request.

Do you offer placement assistance?
No, but we can suggest various resources and networking opportunities that might help you.

How should I prepare for the class?
You should be quite comfortable working with computers and have a desire to learn the application. Some experience with the application can be helpful but is not necessary for the 101-level classes. Intermediate and advanced-level training requires a solid understanding of the basics of the application. If you are not sure, please contact us and discuss your situation with the instructor.

Do you have any printed material about your courses and schedule?
The most effective way to keep the information current is to publish it here on our website. If you need additional course descriptions or other information to show others, please let us know and we will do our best to provide it.

How can I contact an instructor for more information about classes?
Please call us or send an email to info@dfilminst.com. Include the name of the class you want information on in the title of the message.
